So, from the title, I was expecting a monster-of-the-week episode, not an explosion of payoff and awesome River-itude.

SONIC CANE! Also, Matt Smith, that was some damn fine covering-up-the-pain acting.

RORY! Just in general. But particularly punching people and stealing and driving a motorbike.

I do object on principle to retconning a best mate into things, but given how timey-wimey everything is I can totally buy it as time being rewritten.

I was annoyed with Mels at first because - and these were my literal thoughts - "OK, Moff, you could bring River in shooting and being badass but doing so with another character is pushing it." And then IT WAS RIVER. ([livejournal.com profile] breadandroses totally, totally called it, by the way.)

AMELIA POND IS LOVE.

Also, I am disproportionately glad that Eleven feels horribly horribly horribly guilty about Donna. Or maybe not so disproportionately.

Spoilers! [flail! flailflail!]

Also an acting award for Ms Kingston, please. Because that was frickin' brilliant.

Also I love the whole dodging-assassination dance. BANANA!

Who the hell is Benjamin, though?

Now, back to watching the rain fall, the wind blow, and waiting for the power to go out.

Who the hell is Benjamin, though?

I had to ask, it's a Graduate reference, she's Mrs Robinson, the young man she seduces is Benjamin. Moff set that up in Impossible Astronaut. Clever, and I've never even seen the film (know the song though).
