Things done since last update
- was magically whisked away to Delaware for a professional conference, where I heard some interesting presentations (including some good job-seeking advice), saw people from grad school, shared a two-bedded room with four other people, and ate all kinds of junk. (Red Lobster, Bob Evans, Chik-fil-A, bar food and highly processed stuff from bags.) Also overheard the quintessential Drunken Archvist quotation: "It's hot in here... better get out your acid-free folders!"
- acquired vacuum (long needed)
- acquired natty new business-appropriate but cheap pants (also long needed)
- acquired some new t-shirts and a business-appropriate blouse
- had dinner and watched Galaxy Quest with the Badgers.
- did various household chores, including organizing the silverware drawer, removing the tablespoonful of steel-cut oats that fell in there the last time I made Neil Gaiman's world's best porridge.
- had dinner and saw Tracy Grammer and Mr. Jim Henry with breadandroses at the Tin Angel, where the two of them were in rare form and offered us the best. cover. EVER but no definitive information as to whether or not they're romantically intertwingled. (No, I'm not going to tell you what song they covered unless you beg. Because it was so very delightful as a surprise.)
- took clothes to dry cleaner
- registered with the volunteer-opportunities-clearinghouse organization which seems to be the one and only local ticket to volunteer work for people who work 9-5.

Still to do:
- use said vacuum
- determine what in the fridge needs to be tossed after last week's power outage
- take out lots of trash
- go to ATM
- address financial record-keeping and planning backlog
- address the total disorder of my dresser drawers and closet
