daily grind

The power eventually came back on because, after twelve hours or so, the power company decided they'd better bring in generators to power the three apartment buildings and other houses affected. I had a call from this am to inform me that the power will be off again later this morning when they switch from the generators back to the main grid. Apparently, there was a fire in a conduit/tranformer/electric thing under the street. To the power company's credit, they did have a moderate-sized army of technicians deployed to address the problem.

I should have eaten the frozen spanakopita from Trader Joe's that I've been hoarding in the back of the freezer for When I Have Company. After thawing and refreezing twice it's probably going to be gross. But! I have clean clothes to wear for the conference, even though I'll have to reset all my clocks again when I come back on Saturday night. And I remembered to pack both pajamas AND socks, which are my favorite genres of clothing to forget.
