First, a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY,

!!!

I hope it was marvelous!

I've been drinking too much this week. Oddly, it's last night's two-beers-with-dinner that have kicked my ass, rather than the two-mixed-drinks-on-an-empty-stomach-followed-by-a-beer-with-dinner of Monday night. However, after breakfasting on two popsicles and half a box of cheddar bunnies, then indulging in a grande iced chai latte, and sitting as quietly as possible in the air conditioning here at work, the hangover headache is passing off. (This past hour has been the quietest of the week so far, which is a huge relief. Work has been insane, and after-work there has been a farewell party for someone from church (Monday), a co-op shift (Tuesday), the usual Wednesday late-night-at-work, and then last night a long-overdue trip to the gym followed by dinner out with out-of-town friends, and then moving things around so as to be able to put the window AC units in.

Wednesday night I couldn't sleep and so I finished reading the first volume of L. M. Montgomery's journals, which I bought at the site of her grandparents' home in Cavendish when I was in PEI. And I ought to have bought the second and third, which appear to be out of print in the States and quite expensive used. I wish she talked more about her writing process, but I have very much enjoyed the social history aspect of the journals. Her discussions of visiting and especially of courting rituals and marriage proposals/decisions are fascinating. And as often, reading a well-written journal makes me wish to be better at keeping one.
