When I like Donna I really, REALLY like Donna. She's a grownup. She takes initiative. She takes no shit from the Doctor. But she does have a tendency to tick over into AngryPrincessShrew, which is tedious. And I was very, VERY disappointed to learn in "Partners in Crime" (which we watched last night) that after AWESOMELY sending Ten packing in "The Runaway Bride" and squaring her shoulders to work on her shit and take care of herself and enjoy the awesomeness of human life... she's been just piiiining for the faaaabulous Doctor.

I love that she's investigating weird stuff on her own... but I would have loved it more if she'd been doing it out of Doctor-inspired interest-in-weird-stuff rather than Doctor-chasing.

The silent conversation through the windows was fabulous, though.

And OMGWTFBBQ Rose??? Ghosty wanderer Rose?? Curious to see what THAT leads to!

It's an odd dynamic between the two of them, which I sometimes enjoyed and sometimes didn't throughout series 4. She needs him ... so she can tell him to shut up and get on with kicking ass and taking names. Without the mortal danger and the Tardis and, yes, the Doctor, it's too easy to fall back into the old habits she was trying to kick to get on with her life. That rings true to me.

And I'm looking forward to your reactions on the rest of the series! *clamps hands over mouth*
