Still no internet service at home, though further heroic telephoning by
breadandroses has made it clear that the problem is definitely the router, and that the router company (Netgear) are a bunch of lying liars who lie, but will not deign to even LIE to you until you pay them for phone support. (This fact is complicated by, though not caused by, the fact that all their phone service is clearly done from another continent. Transcontinental phone link + cell phone + mutually difficult to understand forms of English = insanity.)
