The world does not hold enough money, chocolate, whiskey, cheese, and live performances by brilliant actors and musicians to compensate me for how much I would hate (and suck at) being a professor. However, I really wish I could look forward to having a sabbatical sometime.

THINGS I WOULD DO IF I GOT A SABBATICAL

- take voice lessons, and do ear training on my own, with a view to being a better section singer and cantor.

- organize the "music library" for the choir director, for realz, including systematizing the choir members' folders. This would include making custom folders for the tenors: a comprehensive one with very clear tabs for Crazy Tenor, and two or three ones for Newbie Tenor so he could (try to) hold on to one but would also always have one in the music room AND stashed in the church.

- revive and improve my French.

- travel, spending extended time with my grandparents, my aunt and uncle in Chicago, and friends in other places.

- knit a lot, and possibly sew.

- write. i hope.
