What fabulous costume did you always hope to wear on Halloween, or Purim, or just for fun, but thus far have not?
I always wanted a costume that would involve a hoop skirt. In second grade I was Young Laura Ingalls for Halloween; my mother made me a simple printed cotton dress and a matching sunbonnet, and sewed buttons on an old pair of my fathers socks that I wore over my sneakers to approximate high-buttoned shoes. I wanted to follow that up with being Almanzo's sister Alice, in a hoopskirt. I had a plan for making a hoop out of twisty-ties. Perhaps needless to say, that never got very far. The next year I wore the Laura Ingalls dress with a fancy sash and a metallic-pipecleaner crown to be Ozma of Oz.
