Howatch question

So, I know some of you read Susan Howatch. What novel of hers would you recommend starting with?I picked up The High Flyer at the library the other day, as the other two of her books that were on offer seemed to both be sequels to yet other books. I started reading on the subway this morning, and I have to confess to being not particularly impressed. Noticeably un-riveted, in fact, by the RomCom-style cute meeting (she thinks he's from IT! he thinks she's a secretary!) between thirtysomething professionals that seems to be setting the plot in motion. Have I made a poor choice of First Howatch Book?
