I made a flying visit to DC this weekend, with all the usual events - late-night cookery with my aunt, an indulgent restaurant meal with a friend, a little twinge of homesickness for the wide streets and colorful row houses of Capitol Hill. The usual regrets, the usual questions and frustrations. Sometimes going to DC has all the same stresses of a visit to my parents with none of the relief from the mental rut of daily life.
Reading - Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Excellent worldbuilding, excellent 19th-century voice (though I'm growing weary of "chuse" and "surprized").
Watching - bits of Star Trek: DS9
Knitting - a white tea cozy for my mother, to go with the already-finished black one.
