Today began inconviently with a summons to the figurative Red Tent, brightened considerably with the chance to show off my shiny Christmas/Graduation Present (a palm pilot, probably to bear the name Glamdring) to my boss, and then took a downturn in the form of an allergic reaction to Some Unidentified Thing which earned me two shots, an hour of observation in the health center, and the complete washing-out of the rest of the day as I slept off the meds at home.

So, PSA, folks - if you feel like your throat is swelling, it is probably Not A Good Idea to wait and see if it's going to swell a lot, especially if the feeling came on suddenly. Because even though I was breathing well and my throat wasn't visibly swollen, the nice health center folks did not hand me some pills and pat me on the head (as I rather expected), but quite seriously bpcuffed me up and gave me not just a benedryl injection but epinephrine as well. So it's serious business, folks.

The bad part is that I don't know what the trigger was. Candidates include the motrin I took for cramps (possibly something in the bilious orange coating, as I have often had ibuprofen without incident), the vanilla SilkSoy I had to protect my stomach (it would have to be the flavoring, as I've had the plain many a time before), or Something At Work. In the morning I guess I'll find out if it was Something At Work. I'm hoping that the vanilla flavor in the soymilk was the culprit, myself... that or the Motrin coating. Being allergic to work would be inconvenient, to say the least.
