kivrin: Cate Blanchett as Elizabeth I (elizabeth)
( May. 16th, 2002 10:07 am)
Just got the email confirmation... I'm going to AOTC on Saturday with a whole mess of people, most of whom I don't know well, but at least one of whom will be in costume. I will probably be unable to resist the geekiness of bringing my plastic lightsaber and my Qui-Gon beanie baby.

The big issue will be avoiding spoilerage between now and 6 pm Saturday. I'm not a spoiler virgin... I've viewed all the trailers, and I've looked at pictures... but I've avoided reading spy reports on TFN and such things. I'm not too concerned about being spoiled for character names and location details, or even big plot points. What I want to be sure to see clearly, without preconception, is the relationships. I want my interpretation of interactions between characters to be based on what I see and hear on the screen, not what I think after reading the bare words on the page and scrolling through oodles of discussion on it.

J was mocking me this morning... "I'm surprised you didn't break down and go to a 1 am showing!" she teased. In fact, I wasn't even tempted. With no-one to go with and an already troublesome sleep deficit, there wasn't much appeal. I do rather wish I was going tonight. Well, I'm going out to dinner with H, which will be fun, and I have another eight episodes of Buffy I can watch at home. And oh, I can sleep. Knit up the ravelled sleeve of care and all that.

My local video rental place has the Buffy Season 1 dvd set... three discs that rent as one. Twelve episodes of Buffy for a week for four dollars. Not bad. And quite ironic that I spent nearly as much for an hour of Blackadder on vhs from the same place. Economics. I don't get it.
